Title
Master of Legal Practice thesis in Law.

Prerequisites
The topic for the Master of Legal Practice thesis (MLP-thesis) must be approved by the program leader at the latest at the beginning of the student's third semester of study. At the same time that students get their topic approved by the program leader, the student will be assigned to an appropriate thesis advisor. The MLP thesis will be written individually and in Faroese language, accompanied by an abstract in English. The program leader can dispensate from the Faroese language requirement. The MLP-thesis is to be submitted in two deliverances. The first part is to be delivered no later than the 15th of January on the third semester at 12.00 o’clock. If the 15th of January falls on a Saturday or Sunday, the deadline is postponed to the same time the following Monday. The first deliverance must consist of a problem statement, a preliminary bibliography and substantive parts that quantitatively represent at least half of the thesis. The first submission will only be graded pass/fail, and the student will be allowed to proceed to the second part if the first part is passed according to the assessment of the thesis supervisor and the external examiner. The second delivery will consist of the full thesis that must be submitted no later than at 12.00 o’clock the 15th of May of the fourth and last semester. If this date comes down on a Saturday or Sunday, the deadline will be postponed to the same time on the following Monday. The length of the MLP thesis is to be a minimum of 40 pages (96.000 characters, spaces and footnotes included) and maximum of 50 pages (120.000 characters, spaces and footnotes included). To be elegible to deliver the MLP thesis, students must have passed all courses up to and including the 3th semester. Further, it is a requirement to pass the thesis that students have passed both ordinary courses that need to be taken in order to finish the 4th semester.
Purpose
Final assignment (project) on the Master of Legal Practice program.
Content
A topic chosen by the student, and approved of by the program leader. The topic lies preferably within the thematical frame of courses offered on the Bachelor program or the MLP program, but the program leader can, if considered reasonable, also approve other topics.
Learning and teaching approaches
Supervision. A maximum of 10 hours supervision is offered each student.
Learning outcomes
With the MLP thesis the students must be able to demonstrate that they are able to: - make a clear problem statement related to the chosen topic. - document the collection of legal sources and literature relevant to the problem statement. - to argue their choices of methods and concepts. - document ability to structure their work and results in a coherent and systematic thesis with good and logical balance between problem statement, delimitation, disposition, analysis and conclusion. - communicate their knowledge and arguments in a systematic and coherent way in a clear and correct language that demonstrates awareness of legal concepts the Faroese language as a developing legal language.
Assessment method
The assessment wil be based on the written assignment. In grading the theses, attention will be paid, not only to the content, but to the writing (insofar as these are separable).
