Fish Ecology: My main scientific work has been on fish assemblages on the Faroe Bank. Focus has been on the species composition, spatial and temporal distribution, food and feeding habits of the fish species living on the Bank. Additionally, the studies have been conducted on genetic structure of the fish population, life-history and the effect of climate change on the distribution patterns of Faroese fish species.

Population genetics: Studies have been carried on genetic structure of different organism living in and around the Faroe Islands. Investigations have been done on different fish species living on the Faroe Bank, on the Faroese House Sparrow (Passer domesticus), the Faroese house mouse (Mus musculus) as well as the genetic structure and origin of the Faroese people.

House Sparrow: During the last years, I have spent time on studying of the Faroese House Sparrow (Passer domesticus). The study encompasses of the general biology, population size, movement, life-history and population structure.

I have been lecturing in a total of 34 courses, covering twelve different biological areas, mainly ecological, and been responsible instructor for 24 different courses, held 65 times op to now. As the responsible instructor, I have the official responsibility and managing authority for these courses. This includes, e.g., planning and revising the courses (preparation of course description and instructional plan), lecturing and arranging potential lecturers and arranging examinations. Additionally I have been supervisor for 15 bachelor’s and one master’s project, covering a wide range of biological subjects.
