Purpose
To make the students familiar with the fundamentals in statistics and its application in life sciences.
Content
Basic concepts, population, sampling, processing and presenting data, measuring avarage and variability, probability concepts and distributions, normal distributions, estimation, confidence interval, statistical testing, frequency analysis, correlation and regression analysis, comparing avarages, ANOVA.
Learning and teaching approaches
40 lectures and 30 hours problem solving. Working on two mandatory minor project.
Assessment method
Written examination, four hours with helping material. The 13-grade scale is used. The second minor project is included in the evaluation.
