Purpose
The purpose of advanced methodology is for students to develop skills to select, apply and communicate a methodological approach for their master’s thesis.
Content
• Identifying and selecting relevant literature for conceptualising a methodological approach. • The use of problem driven, reflexive and contextual practice in academic research. • Methodological implications of a problem field, a research question and problem-based work. • The role of the researcher and research ethics in the research process.
Learning and teaching approaches
The course is based on lectures, thematic seminars, and active participation from the students.
Learning outcomes
Upon completion of the course the student shall be able to: • Assess problematics within a chosen theme and their analytical perspectives. • Critically reflect on epistemology in knowledge production related to a chosen subject. • Evaluate ethical questions of knowledge production. • Analyse and synthesise theoretical approaches to identify research problems within a chosen theme. • Evaluate the analysis of a chosen thematic as reflexive, contextual and problem driven practice.
