Book Release: Sea of Change
The University of the Faroe Islands Press, Fróðskapur, is now publishing the anthology Sea of Change – A Faroese Ethnography Written from Within, edited by Annika Isfeldt and Firouz Gaini.
The book explores social and cultural transformations in contemporary Faroese society from critical anthropological perspectives.
Across its five chapters, the book discusses environmental issues and natural resources, transport and mobility, tourism development and national identity, as well as family life and emerging roles of fatherhood. In addition, one chapter reflects on exotic and scientific representations of island societies.
The book is in English and includes a short summary in Faroese.
The chapters are written by Annika Isfeldt, Ragnheiður Bogadóttir, and Firouz Gaini.
