The Teacher Education Program evaluated
Overall, the teacher education program at the University of the Faroe Islands is considered good, although some improvements need to be made. This is one of the conclusions in an internal evaluation of the program that has now been conducted
When the Ministry of Education in December 2022 received the external expert evaluation of the University of the Faroe Islands, the main conclusion was that "the University fully meets its obligations when it comes to achieving the Faroe Islands' yearlong goal of becoming a member of the European Higher Education Area - EHEA."
The experts' evaluation was based on the European Standards and Guidelines (ESG), which are the standards for how quality should be ensured in higher education in the EHEA. ESG covers three parts: internal quality assurance, external quality assurance, and independent monitoring, which external quality assurance agencies should handle.
As part of the recommendations from the experts, the University has worked on creating systems for regular evaluations and quality assurances of the programs to ensure that they are up to date and meet changing needs and requirements. The first program to be tested under this internal quality assurance system was the teacher education program.
