UFI Receives Funding for Research on International Politics

The Faculty of History and Social Sciences at the University of the Faroe Islands has received funding for a new research project on foreign, security, and defense policy in the North Atlantic.

The new project has received 2.6 million DKR in research funding, and Heini í Skorini, associate Professor in International Relations, will be in charge of it.

- The plan is to use the funds for a Ph.D. project, thus enhancing research in this field. Since the Russian invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, the topic has become more relevant than ever, and we need new knowledge and research on how the increased great-power rivalry in the North Atlantic affects the Faroe Islands and our neighboring countries, says Heini í Skorini.

The research program in foreign, security, and defense policy in the North Atlantic region is funded by the Danish Parliament and is administered by the Research Council in the Faroe Islands. The overarching goal of the research program is to generate new knowledge on foreign, security, and defense policy in the North Atlantic region.

The committee overseeing the program is called FASDiNA, and in this round, it has allocated a total of 5,624,676 DKR to two research projects. These are the first research projects to receive funding from the new research program on foreign, security, and defense policy in the North Atlantic region.

The projects receiving support are:
